At LEFF, Shop Drawing & BIM is a tightly integrated, end-to-end pipeline that turns architectural intent into fabrication-ready reality. We author coordinated BIM models in Revit with AGACAD for CFS automation, resolve geometry in Rhino when needed, validate constructability and sequencing in Navisworks, detail complex steel interfaces in Tekla, and publish crisp, installer-centric 2D sheets in AutoCAD. For stakeholder alignment, we produce immersive visual reviews via 3ds Max, Lumion, and Unreal Engine (true-scale VR).
The outcome: zero-guesswork drawings, machine-readable schedules, and site-ready assemblies that deliver predictability.

BIM Authoring (Revit + AGACAD)

LOD Strategy:
  • LOD 300–350 for coordinated design (layouts, major sizes, fixing concepts).
  • LOD 400 for shop-level detailing (member cut-lengths, fastener maps, punching, service openings, anchors).
  • LOD 450 for assembly logic and erection sequencing metadata.
  • LOD 500 for as-built reconciliation.
CFS Automation with AGACAD: Rule-based panelization (stud spacing, tracks, headers, jambs, bracing), automatic numbering, tag families, and parametric metadata (gauge, profile, coating, fire-rating, acoustic layer).
Parameter Schema: Shared parameters for Panel ID, Member ID, Level, Zone, Phase, Fire/Acoustic rating, Connection Type, Anchor Type, Hole Map, and Installation Sequence. All schedules and exports feed directly from these fields (single source of truth).
Geometry & Envelope: Free-form and complex envelopes are rationalized in Rhino, exchanged via IFC/SAT back to Revit for precise framing and bracketry.

Shop Drawing Production

(AutoCAD + Revit Sheets)

 

Drawing Types:
Panel Elevations with member callouts, dimension strings, brace/strap layouts, and opening/freeze lines.
Connection Details (sill/track, jamb/header, splice, hold-down, anchor, diaphragm ties).
Hardware/Fastener Maps with counts per panel.
Anchor & Embed Layouts (coordinate-based set-outs and survey points).
Erection Plans (zone/sequence, rigging notes, handling).
Numbering & Traceability: Consistent ID schema (e.g., LV-03-Z2-PNL-145) appears on model objects, title blocks, BOMs, packing lists, and labels.
Issue Sets: IFI (Issue For Internal), IFM (Issue For Manufacture), IFC (Issue For Construction). Each issue logs revisions, clouds, and a change register referencing RFI/AHJ notes.

Quality Assurance & Issue Management

BIM-Driven QA/QC:
Parameter checks (required fields), geometry audits (member orientation, edge distances), and rule scripts (e.g., min bearing lengths, maximum stud spacing at openings).


Submittals & AHJ:

Permit-ready sets with calculation summaries; responses to AHJ comments tracked as formal revisions.
Change Control:
Every delta is logged (Rev ID, sheet index, description, approver), and model/sheet parity is verified before re-issue.


Visualization & Stakeholder Reviews

  • Design Reviews: Photo-real previews via 3ds Max/Lumion; VR mock-ups in Unreal Engine for full-scale checks of stairs, cores, and service zones.
  • Decision Acceleration: Visual evidence reduces owner ambiguity, compresses approval cycles, and locks decisions before fabrication.
